Abstract

The paradigm shift from a linear to a circular economy appears to be one promising way of countering the steadily increasing consumption of resources. Both circular business models and the methodical development of circular products pose a major challenge in this regard. This paper aims to identify requirements for research into potential methods that enable the evaluation of circularity in the early phases of the product development process. For this purpose, the impact of implementation of DfCE criteria on the product development process is compared with evaluation methods for early phases.
