Design Society 'Rigi' meeting 2024
Return to Rigi Mountain
The Board of Management, Advisory Board, and SIG & Chapter Leaders of the Design Society meet to discuss the development and administration of the Society and, in a day of scientific discussions, to explore important issues in design research. This year, the meeting will be held on 13-15 March 2024 at Mount Rigi, Switzerland. It will be the first meeting held at Rigi Mountain since 2010.
This venue is where the name of the meeting comes from, having been the location where the Society was founded in 2000.
The Rigi Meetings originated in the 1980s with the Society's predecessor, "Workshop Design-Konstruktion". For those who initiated the Design Society in 1999/2000, the term “Rigi Meetings” stands for a sequence of events which started with a dialogue about the design of Machine Elements but gradually changed to concern and initiative about design as a science, as a teaching challenge and as industrial practice, preparing the ground for the foundation of the Design Society.
The Story of the "Rigi Meetings" was published during the Design Society's 20th Anniversary in 2020 and was written by Christian Weber, Mogens Myrup Andreasen and Sandor Vajna. You can read the full publication in DS Publications: https://www.designsociety.org/publication/42465/Rigi+Meetings.
Note: Participants for the Rigi Meeting should log into the Design Society website to see practical details of the meetings.
