Abstract
The study is investigating the application of Design Structure Matrices (DSM) to a new domain. The idea is to use this tool to expand the application of model-based engineering into a new domain, operation integration of human crews with diverse equipment sets under resource constrained conditions. DSM – in particular multi-domain architecture models are applied to a generic version of equipment for vehicle mounted military gunnery. The question to answer is if the DSM, a lower-overhead modeling tool, can provide a path for expanding the benefits of systems thinking to a broader domain.
